The Virginia Conference UMC membership is asked to join together in remembering and honoring Bishop Timothy Whitaker on Monday, April 8, 2024.
Bishop Whitaker’s Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 8, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson’s United Methodist Church in Machipongo with the Rev. Curtis Lucy officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson’s United Methodist Church Cemetery on the Eastern Shore. Please hold his family in prayer during this time of grief.
Monday morning lay and clergy Conference leaders will be meeting together to continue the visioning and prioritization work that has long been scheduled for April 8 and that they have been laying the groundwork for since January. This visioning work carries on the strong legacy of leadership that Bishop Whitaker gave during his time of service in Virginia and his time as Bishop of the Florida Annual Conference.
The Monday meeting will begin with worship in which all gathered will remember and give thanks for Bishop Whitaker’s life and ministry. Please join these leaders in a moment of silence at 10:30 a.m. that day in honor and memory of him.
