2022 Lay Servant Academy

Details for the 2022 Lay Servant Academy events will be available in the near future.

Available Online Courses hosts online courses which have been approved by the General Board of Discipleship as advanced courses in Lay Servant is one of several programs of the Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College, a United Methodist institution in Winfield, Kansas. Several of the courses also offer 1 CEU for clergy and other staff.  You can find upcoming LSM courses on the website as well as studies through The Upper Room, courses from the YouthWorker Movement, and Safe Sanctuaries training.

District Training Events

Information is posted about Lay Servant Ministries training opportunities on the district level as it is received. Individuals can participate in learning opportunities on any district. Most courses are held in the spring and fall. You may want to check individual district websites and newsletters for course availability.   

Rappahannock River District offering fall virtual Lay Servant Training

The Rappahannock River District is pleased to offer another Virtual Lay Servant Training this fall. These classes will be held via Zoom and are open to all districts.
The classes will be held on consecutive Saturdays (September 18, 25, & October 2). The classes offered include:
• Basic (8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
• United Methodist Heritage (1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.)
• Called to Preach (8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.)
