Guiding scripture leading into General Conference:
For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.
Favorite paragraph of the Book of Discipline (we all have one, right?):
¶ 120. The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs.
A brief statement on your call to serve as a delegate:
I have been a United Methodist all my life, and have lived all but seven years of my life within the bounds of the Virginia Conference. I love the UMC. It is my spiritual home. It raised me, claimed me, educated me, and has given me my life’s vocation. I see my call to serve as a delegate as a way in which I can help pass on to future generations a UMC that is robust and vital.
Specific prayer request(s) for the work ahead:
I pray for God to freely use me to bless the church, the delegation, and the work of the General Conference for the sake of the world Christ died to save, and I pray for God to watch over my family while I am gone.
