Three classes will be offered:

Teachers: Gail Von Mosch and John O’Grady

This is the foundational course for other lay Servant Ministries leadership courses and covers the three main categories of Lay Servant Ministries: Leading, Caring and Communicating. 

Requirements: Book: Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course Guide by Sandy Jackson and Brin Jackson (available on Amazon); upon completion of the book, bring three (3) questions to the class for discussion. 

Teacher: Pastor Bertrand Griffin II

This class reminds us that the Holy Spirit gives each Christian one or more spiritual gifts to be used for the common good. It guides readers to discover their own particular gifts and learn to use their gifts to serve others.      

Requirements: Book: For The Common Good, Discovering and Using Your Spiritual Gifts by Christine Harman (available on Amazon); upon completion of the book, please take the Spiritual Gift Inventory and bring a copy with you. 

Teacher: Pastor Kirk Culpepper

Called to Preach is designed for those who have not had formal preaching training or who seek a basic refresher course, covering topics like choosing scripture, finding a focus, writing and presenting a sermon.      

Requirements: Book: From Pew to Pulpit by Clifton F. Guthrie (available on Amazon); complete the exercise on pages XV, 41, and Chapter 9; please prepare a 4-5 minute message about a single scripture as outlined on page 41.
