All God’s Children Camp and Camp Rainbow Connection are long-lasting ministries of the Virginia Conference. With the support of churches, both camps provide a life-changing experience for the campers who are served. Both camps have a unique structure to provide mentorship for the camper who needs to experience the love of God. The camps need your help to be part of the team to share the love of Christ with all people!

2022 Camp Rainbow Connection

Date: July 16 – 22, 2022

Where: Richard Bland College

Camp Rainbow Connection needs volunteer staff members! Camp is held at Richard Bland College in Petersburg. Campers and staff live in suite-style dorm rooms. Each staff member is paired with a camper buddy who they support while maintaining dignity of the camper with whom they are buddied. Staff members live alongside campers for the week while also supporting and facilitating the camp activities including, but not limited to, morning classes (Bible, art, science and music), afternoon activities (games and mission projects), and evening activities (talent show, dance, luau, etc.). Serving at CRC requires a servant’s heart, an ability to facilitate camp activities that provide campers opportunities to experience fun, fellowship and Christian teaching, and a desire to demonstrate Christian love with compassion and acceptance towards our CRC community. Many who volunteer say that CRC is as close to heaven they’ll get while on earth. Volunteering is a great opportunity to serve and it almost always provides a new demonstration of Christ’s love for all people. CRC is best suited for folks who are willing to work together as a team with people with and without disabilities.

2022 All God’s Children Camp

Week 1: June 19-24, 2022, Camp Chanco on the James

Week 2: July 24- 29, 2022 Occohannock on the Bay (Eastern Shore area)

Week 3: August 14-19, 2022, Camp Chanco on the James

All God’s Children Camp is in need of mentors this summer.  To be a mentor all you need is a heart for kids! The camp is in need of male and female mentors for all three weeks (June 19-24, July 24-29, and August 14-19). Mentors help campers get to all of their activities, eat meals together, help with shower time and bedtime, and guide a short devotion each night for the cabin that’s as easy as asking “Where did you see God today?”  You will get a chance to support and show love to your camper, and engage with them during Bible study, arts and crafts, and worship. You have the opportunity to listen as they share their stories during Harmony, the conflict resolution and self-esteem building.  You encourage them throughout the week as they learn new activities the camp has to offer. Please consider giving a week of your time and mentor a camper whose mother or father is incarcerated.
