When the Storm Hits: Church, Community, and Disaster Recovery

Rev. Brian Posey is a lifelong United Methodist in the Virginia Conference, raised in Manassas, Virginia. Earning his BA in history from Longwood College, and MDiv from Eastern Mennonite Seminary. was ordained Elder in Full Connection in 2019. His passion for church missions began as a 7th grader working with the Teens Opposing Poverty mission. Rev. Posey has also been involved in Disaster Response Ministries since 2009. ERT certification, UMVIM Leader training, Harrisonburg District Disaster Coordinator, Shenandoah River District Kits Coordinator, and presently serving as the Living Waters Disaster Coordinator, and Kits for Conference Liaison for the district coordinators. Rev. Posey’s vision is to create a streamlined disaster response ministry that weaves together more cohesively the various parts of preparedness, assessment, and responsiveness to a disaster even before it happens.
