The weather service is tracking a series of powerful Derecho storms heading into West Virginia around 7 p.m. and into southwestern Virginia by 8 p.m. Areas near Radford, Roanoke, and north up towards Staunton/Harrisonburg, and areas in Southside Virginia should remain alert to the weather for possible impacts.
Petersburg and Richmond areas may get some of the weakening storms and later this evening as the storms head east.
Please take to time to prepare and secure loose items as winds may reach as high as 75 MPH.
In preparation of the possible storms:
1) If your church has a disaster plan, please review before a possible disaster.
2) If your area is hit by these storms, check on your church members and neighbors.
3) In the event of church or community damage, please notify your district disaster coordinator AND District superintendent as soon as possible.
