Bishop Sue and Martha Stokes, conference lay leader, invite the Virginia Conference to explore spiritual disciplines from September 2024 to June 2025. The book, Soul Feast, by Marjorie J. Thompson will help guide this initiative with a different spiritual practice focus each month. On the first Monday of each month, there will be a live webinar to discuss the next spiritual discipline and suggested resources will also be shared. The webinars will be available with Korean and Spanish subtitles for later viewing.

Start this initiative as a solo journey or join a companion for the journey starting this September.

Schedule

Each month’s webinar will be recorded for later viewing.

My parents, close family members, childhood friends, and a dear pet All have departed this earth in just a mere five-year period. Each loss distinguishes light in my life; Putting me into greater and greater darkness And devoid of so many of my champions, paragons, and confidants. But when I pray to You and think upon these precious souls, I feel their presence in my life burning anew And am reminded of the powerful impact they have had on shaping me. In quiet fellowship with You oh God, I am always connected in love with those I have lost. I rejoice that these beloved live on as part of the communion of saints, No longer earthly ash but celestial spirit.  Lord, I give thanks that their light is not really distinguished, Just transformed into a new, undying warmth that illuminates and brightens my life every day. I praise You for holding them in Your tender care. Because of Your grace through Christ Jesus, I know there is the promise of new life today and always. With that assurance, I live my life with new hope.
