With great sadness, we share that the Reverend William Ernest “Bill” Amon, age 91 of Warsaw, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior in Heaven on Friday, April 25, 2025. Bill was born on January 4, 1934 in Lawrenceville, VA to his late parents, Ollie James Amon, Sr. and Evelyn Estelle Browder Amon.
Bill had a special calling, and it was to serve the Lord. For 43 years, he was a beloved Methodist Minister and was proud to be a devoted follower of the Lord. Teaching others about the gospel and beautiful scriptures gave him purpose. Bill served 5 years at a lovely church, Warsaw United Methodist Church, where he created long-lasting friendships in the community. When it came time for him to retire, Bill and his family decided that the beautiful town of Warsaw was where they were meant to be.
Bill was always so personable and easy to talk to with his sweet demeanor and a big smile. He was truly a genuine man. He loved seeing people, visiting with friends and family, and going out to eat. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. His beloved wife of 61 years, Barbara Anne Amon, was the light of his life. We can only imagine the beautiful reunion they had in Heaven.
In his down time, Bill enjoyed watching sports like baseball, football, and basketball. He would cheer on his favorite teams: the Atlanta Braves, the Duke Basketball team, and the Washington Commanders.
Bill is survived by his adored daughters, Terry Amon Hutnyan (Paul) and Millie Amon Heath (Chris), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barabra; his parents, Ollie and Evelyn; his daughter, Ginger Goodman; and son-in-law, Cecil Goodman.
A service for Bill will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Warsaw Methodist Church with Reverend Betty Jo Sims officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Warsaw United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
