Frederick Chancellor Hamilton, beloved husband, father, and lifelong servant of God, passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. His life was a testament to faith, compassion, and service. For thirty-seven years, he ministered to congregations across Virginia as a pastor in the United Methodist Church, followed by twelve years of devoted service as a chaplain at Cedarfield. He also gave back to his alma mater, Ferrum College, serving as a Trustee and remaining deeply committed to supporting its mission and students. His gentle spirit, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to others touched countless lives.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Margaret George Hamilton; daughters Amy Margaret MacDougall (Gregory) and Christen Proffitt (Matthew); and cherished granddaughters Campbell, Laney, and Harper Proffitt. He is also survived by his sister Martha H. Beverley (Donald), sister-in-law Judy G. Humphreys (Frank), and a loving extended family who will hold his memory close.

His gifts to others along the way will be remembered by future generations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2025,  at Reveille United Methodist Church, 4200 Cary Street Road, Richmond, VA 23221. A reception and family visitation will follow.
