Join Our Musical Ministry at Cave Spring UMC – We’re Hiring an Organist – Music Associate!

Are you an accomplished organist and pianist with a heart for worship and a gift for collaboration? Cave Spring United Methodist Church in beautiful Roanoke, Virginia is seeking a talented and passionate Organist – Music Associate to join our ministry team.

Nestled in the scenic Roanoke Valley, Cave Spring UMC has been a vibrant part of the community since 1854. Our mission is simple but powerful: Experience God, Grow Together, and Serve Others—and music is at the heart of how we live that out.

In this salaried, part-time role, you’ll provide organ and piano music for our traditional worship services, accompany our Chancel Choir and other ensembles, and support special services throughout the year. Cave Spring UMC uses a hybrid organ with a Rodgers three manual digital console. We’re looking for someone who not only brings technical excellence and creativity but also shares a love for uplifting and inspiring others through music.

This position works closely with our Director of Music Ministry and Senior Pastor to plan and present meaningful worship experiences. You’ll also have opportunities to mentor musicians of all ages, start and lead new ensembles, and contribute to a supportive, collaborative staff team.

A bachelor’s degree in Church Music or Organ Performance is preferred, along with strong organ/piano proficiency, the ability to direct ensembles, and good communication skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with all staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate is musically talented, spiritually grounded in Christian tradition and familiar with United Methodist doctrine, theology, hymnals, and worship traditions.
