Position Description: The Music Director is responsible for leading the congregation in contemporary and traditional worships through music, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere, and collaborating with the pastoral and worship teams to plan and execute weekly worship services. This part-time role requires a passion for worship, strong musical abilities and a heart for leading others into the presence of God.
Responsibilities:
Worship Leadership: Lead the congregation in music during weekly worship services, special events and occasional gatherings.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with pastoral staff, worship team members, and technical team to plan and execute worship services that align with the church’s mission and vision.
Music Selection: Curate a diverse selection of traditional and contemporary Christian music that resonates with the congregation, ensuring a balanced mix of new songs and familiar favorites.
Rehearsals: Schedule and conduct regular rehearsals as needed with the worship team, ensuring that all members are well prepared and confident in their roles.
Team Development: Recruit, train and mentor volunteer musicians for vocal ensembles to include an Adult Choir, Children’s Choir and other solos and duets for special occasions.
Technical Coordination: Work to develop a sound and media team to ensure high quality A/V elements that enhance the worship experience.
Administrative Duties: Manage worship-related administrative tasks, such as scheduling, song
licensing and communication with team members. Plan for coverage when absent or on vacation.
Qualifications
• Spiritual Commitment: A willingness to support our church mission as well as the values and beliefs of our church. This includes a commitment to diversity and welcoming all who wish to participate in our worship and music ministries.
• Musical Proficiency: Proficiency in leading worship with guitar, keyboard or another lead instrument, along with strong vocal abilities
• Technical Knowledge: Competency with audio, visual and multimedia technology used in worship services
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with a diverse population
• Flexibility: Willingness and ability to adapt to the unique needs of the church and its congregation
Time Commitment
• Sundays: 8-11 a.m. to include a traditional service and a contemporary service; rehearsals as required
• Special Events: Availability for additional services such as holidays
• Weekly communication with lead pastor for worship planning
• Manage worship related and administrative tasks such as scheduling, song licensing and ensure A/V setup for Sunday morning
Compensation
Salary: $20,000 to $25,000
