Bon Air United Methodist Church in Bon Air, VA, is seeking an individual to work part-time (10-15 hours per week) as our director of children’s ministries.
The ideal candidate must have experience working with children (ages 3-11). The responsibilities include working with the Sunday School teachers on curriculum choices as well as organizing and leading children’s events throughout the year, including but not limited to Easter Egg Hunt, VBS, a Back to School activity, Trunk or Treat and an advent activity. Additionally the successful candidate will work with our senior pastor to share responsibility for children’s time during Sunday worship (two Sundays per month). The required characteristics of the position include excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must also have the ability to work independently, multitask, and demonstrate the flexibility to manage changing priorities when necessary.
The candidate must also be compassionate and a team player – working with church staff, volunteers, and members. Additional expectations include having a positive attitude and serving as a positive role model for our children.
