Helen R. Armentrout was the surviving spouse of Rev. Lewis Armentrout.
Helen Rebecca Smith Armentrout, 101, of Timberville, VA passed away August 6, 2026 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
She was born July 20, 1925 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania to the late William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Edwards Smith.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of Sunset Drive United Methodist Church in Broadway, and attended Fairview Church of the Brethren near Endless Caverns, where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship.
On June 8, 1946 she married Rev. Lewis C. Armentrout, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 16, 2017.
Surviving are two daughters, Glenda Faye Rader of Stuarts Draft, Susan Elaine Miller of Timberville; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her son, William C. Armentrout; her brother, William H. Smith, Jr., and two grandchildren.
Rev. John Senters will conduct a graveside service at Clover Hill Cemetery in Dayton 11:00 AM Wednesday, and a memorial service 2:00 PM Wednesday at Fairview Church of the Brethren near Endless Caverns. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
There will be no viewing or visitation at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
