The Rev. Amanda Miller Garber will end her tenure as Director of Missional and Community Engagement on November 14, 2025.

Garber will be joining Habitat for Humanity where she will join together a calling for intentional relationship building and transformational community-driven change all in her beloved home of the Shenandoah Valley.

“I first met Rev. Garber 22 years ago when she followed me at my very first local church appointment,” Rev. Doug Forrester, Virginia Conference Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Assistant to the Bishop, said. “Over the course of more than two decades, I have been amazed at the

profound creativity she brings to ministry in so many forms. I have always enjoyed working with her on various projects because I was always able to glean so much wisdom from her, wisdom that has made me better at what I do. While she will be greatly missed in the conference office, I know that her immense gifts will take the work of Habitat for Humanity to new heights as they are fueled by Amanda’s passion for ministry in a region she knows well.”

Please join the conference staff in sharing with our friend Amanda Miller Garber our profound gratitude for who she is, the immense care and joy and curiosity she brings as a United Methodist leader, and help us wish her well in new journey.
