Expenses for General and Jurisdictional Conference Delegates

There is no funding available from the Virginia Annual Conference to assist with expenses for delegation meetings.  Travel, meal, and lodging if needed must be covered by delegates.

General Conference:

Most delegates find that the per diem provided does not cover all costs of being a delegate and must use personal funds to cover additional expenses.

Dependent upon choices in housing, food, and transportation, delegates could expect to spend an additional $250 – $2,000 during the 2-week conference – over and above the reimbursement.

Southeastern Jurisdiction Conference:

As with General Conference, most delegates find that the per diem provided for Jurisdictional Conference does not cover all costs of being a delegate and must use personal funds to cover additional expenses.

Dependent upon choices in housing and meals, delegates could  expect to spend an additional $100 – $500 during the 3 days of the SEJ Conference – over and above the reimbursement.

For lay delegates to either conference, employers may expect that you use paid leave to attend.  This must be factored into budgeted expenses and travel demands.  If participation will require unpaid time away from work, budgets must be planned and cared for well in advance.  In the past, some delegates have been able to receive assistance from their local churches and districts.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
