2021 Day for All People Prayer Vigil for Lynching Victims

January 22, 2021

The modern-day death penalty is birthed out of Virginia’s history of slavery, lynching and Jim Crow segregation. As part of the Virginia United Methodist Annual Conference and Virginia Interfaith Center for Public Policy’s support of legislation to abolish the death penalty, prayer vigils are being held in each region of the Commonwealth, in remembrance of those who lost their lives to lynching.

The Rev. Robert D. Lewis, pastor of Hinton Avenue UMC, Charlottesville, will host a Facebook Live event on Friday, Jan. 22, at noon. To view, go to https://www.facebook.com/events/1285246805193255/
