Martha Stokes, Virginia Conference Lay Leader and Pinnacle Living Director of Church and Community Relations, received the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine alongside other team members and residents of the Hermitage Richmond on Friday, January 8.

This comes as the Commonwealth has started sending vaccinations to facilities such as long-term care providers. The Hermitage Richmond will follow the phased approach outlined by the Centers for Disease Control with three visits planned to vaccinate those in the community who consent to be immunized.

Hermitage Richmond Executive Director Amy Chapman shared in a press release, “Our team members and residents are all very excited to start this process. We’ve had a resoundingly positive response from everyone involved.”

The facility will continue preventative measures and following CDC guidelines while remaining hopeful that the vaccine will allow for the future reunions between residents and their families.

“We hope this helps residents to get the social aspects of their lives back, but we understand it’s going to take some time,” Chapman said in the press release.

Pinnacle Living’s history with the Virginia Conference began in 1944. The organization’s mission of “Enriching Life’s Journey” lives out in five senior living communities across the Virginia Conference.
