Virginia Conference offers a $100,000 scholarship for The Military Chaplaincy DMin Program at Wesley Theological Seminary
On October 12, 2022, representatives of the Virginia Conference were invited to a special luncheon hosted by the military Chaplaincy Program at Wesley Theological Seminary.
Rev. Dr. Pete Moon (Clergy, Annual Conference offering liaison), Rev. Tom Berlin (Clergy, Floris UMC), Rev. Barbara Miner(Clergy, Floris UMC), Jim Andrews (Lay, Floris UMC), and Rev. Seungsoo “RJ” Jun (representing Bishop Sharma D. Lewis) joined chaplains of all branches of the military as they gathered for their DMin cohorts this semester.
During the luncheon, the representatives presented a $100,000 scholarship check, a combination of the Annual Conference Offering and Floris UMC’s effort to support the military chaplains. This scholarship supports Wesley Theological Seminary’s effort to provide 100% tuition scholarships for the chaplains enrolled in this program. Through the DMin Program, chaplains are invited to an opportunity to deepen their spiritual leadership through various Christian leaders and rigorous academic discipline. The Virginia Conference believes this nurturing experience will strengthen their leadership and carry and influence the soldiers wherever they are stationed.
Virginia Conference churches, thank you for your commitment to making a difference that has a worldwide impact. The United Methodist connection is encouraged to keep Wesley Theological Seminary and the Military Chaplaincy Program in their prayers.
