Training to be a pastor as a theologian is very important in life. I am Reverend Eunice Marimah, who was trained as a theologian at United Theological College in Zimbabwe. I enjoyed it because when I had a calling from God to be a pastor, I didn’t have skills to do pastoral care.

I didn’t have skills to visit people, to conduct services, even to preach, to prepare myself for a sermon. I couldn’t. And I didn’t have confidence to stand in front of people.

So theological training shaped me to be what I am today. I can preach, I can do visitation, I can prepare sermons, I can provide spiritual guidance to students and to everyone in the community. So for me, training and to have more pastors trained in theology, it helps to make sure that we convey God’s grace theologically, because some would hear empty sermons because one is not trained theologically.

So it’s important to train more pastors so that they preach the gospel to the satisfaction of the people which are theologically sound. At this moment, I appreciate the training of theologians, but we need to do more. If we could extend our resources towards this project of training more pastors, it helps the community to hear the word of God, to understand what God is saying, to be part of God’s grace.

Indeed, people need God in their lives. Theologians can do it once trained. I thank you.
