Music Director – Blended Worship

Position Title: Music Director – Blended Worship
Church: Vision of Hope United Methodist Church (1723 Port Republic Rd, Harrisonburg, VA 22801)
Reports to: Pastor
Compensation: Approximately $10,000 annually (negotiable based on experience)
Estimated Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week

Position Summary:
The Music Director for the 10:30 a.m. blended worship service provides leadership for congregational music and the praise team. The director leads from keyboard or guitar, selects music for worship, and works with volunteer musicians to support vibrant congregational singing.

Responsibilities.
• Lead music for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday blended worship service.
• Play keyboard and/or guitar and provide musical leadership for congregational singing.
• Direct the praise team.
• Lead weekly praise team rehearsal (currently Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.)
• Select music for congregational singing and special music.
• Coordinate with volunteer musicians, including guitar and bass players.
• Provide occasional solos or coordinate special music.
• Plan music in collaboration with the pastor and in keeping with the church season.
• Provide leadership for special services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunrise.

Preferred Qualifications
• Strong keyboard or guitar skills
• Experience leading praise teams or worship bands
• Familiarity with contemporary Christian worship music
• Ability to recruit and develop volunteer musicians
• Strong organizational and leadership skills
