Leadership Tracks

Youth will sign up for a track, and will meet within their track five times over the weekend. We may split tracks into more than one group based on numbers and available space. Adults may sign up for a track, but priority goes to youth.

Called to See, Listen, and Serve
Rev. Jenelle Watson/TBD
Loving like Jesus starts with paying attention. Come experience interactive activities that will help you notice people differently and discover simple ways to serve wherever God has placed you.

Called to Serve through Worship and Arts
Rev. Bret Isernhagen/TBD
God has given you gifts to use within the life of your congregation. For those who are artistic in any way–music, dance, visual arts–come learn more about how to use your gifts to glorify God and serve God’s people.

Called and Gifted to Serve
Amy Beckwith, Alison Malloy, Rev. Katherine Malloy
God can use your gifts, right now, not just in the future. Experience various hands-on ways to explore what your gifts are and how God might be calling you to use them.

Serving with Respect: Inclusiveness, Openmindedness, and Outreach
Rev. Lan Davis Wilson/Trisha Mann
What does it look like to build real relationships with people who don’t look, think, believe, live, or experience the world the same way you do? In this workshop, we’ll explore how to serve alongside people across our differences, share our faith without disrespecting someone else’s story, and have honest conversations about what makes us different. Together, we’ll discover how inclusion helps us move beyond simply ‘being nice just to be nice’ to building beloved communities where everyone knows they belong and matter.

Serving as a True Friend
In Partnership with the VCU School of Social Work
Friendship is a calling too. Sometimes our friends need support. This track offers practical experiences (role play, design activities) to help youth recognize how to support friends, particularly those experiencing mental health struggles, and when to reach out for additional support. Youth will learn about mental health, boundaries, and the impact of social media; they will practice ways to provide support, and they will innovatively respond to scenarios.
