William Mears was the spouse of Rev. Charlene Landes Mears.
William Mears, 85, a resident of Staunton, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Mr. Mears was born on December 21, 1940 in London, U.K. and worked in the Middle East on the rebuilding of the palace of the Sulton of Oman. He had friends in France, the U.K., South Africa and Australia as well as the U.S. His friends in the U.S. called him Sir William and he is now Saint William.
Surviving include his wife, Charlene L. Mears; sister-in-law, Julie Mears of Banstead, U.K.; stepson, Jeremy Landes and wife Shannon and their children, Foster, Raegan, and Laurel; and a brother-in-law, Ken and wife Mary of Milwaukee, WI.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Geoffery of the U.K.
A Time of Remembrance for William will be held in the social hall at St. James United Methodist on Sunday, March 22nd at 3 p.m. The church address is 1525 Cecil Wampler Road, Mt. Crawford with Rev.
