Rev. Reginald G. Rumburg (aka. Papaw, Daddy, Pa, Reg, Reggie, Pastor, brother, uncle, friend) departed this world to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with the King of Glory Himself on December 25, 2025. At 76 years young, he was surrounded by his loving wife, cherished daughters, and favorite grandson Charles as this life ended and the angels ushered him home. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda K. Rumburg, his daughter, Jennifer Rumburg, daughter, Melissa and son-in-law Daniel Ellis, daughter, Rev. Rebecca Rumburg (Todd Padgett) and beloved grandson Charles Rumburg; sisters, Sandra Killion, Trudy Epperly, and Patricia Ann Davis; brothers, Phil Rumburg and Kirk Rumburg; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Rumburg and father, Earl Rumburg.
After serving in the United States Air Force and starting a family, God called out to Daddy to serve Him (again). Once answering God’s call over his life, Daddy went on to serve the Lord in ministry for 40 years as clergy in the United Methodist Church of the Virginia Annual Conference, shepherding 13 churches across the state. Touching countless lives along the way serving and shining the light of Christ. He will be remembered as a humble man of few words, a gentle giant with a sweet spirit, and quick-witted humor. His love of the Lord, desire to remind us to love one another as Christ loves us, and his unshakable faith in the face of pain and suffering is a testimony of his life. It can’t go without saying that the joy of his life was seeing God work in each of our lives, and watching his grandson grow into the amazing young man that Charles has become. Thank you, Daddy, for giving of yourself, each of us was a life that was changed.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. Services will be held 11 am Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, 8209 Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
