Sherry was the spouse of Rev. John Robert Jones.
Kinston – On May 25, 2025 Sherry Irene Rouse Jones, 68, met her Savior face to face. Sherry was born in Lowndes County, Georgia on September 24, 1956 to the late James Franklin Rouse Sr. and Shirley Wooten Rouse.
Sherry spent the last thirty-nine and half year devoting herself to being a Pastor’s wife and a loving mother to 3 children who was always on her mind and in her heart. She loved playing the piano which she taught herself to play. She was a graduate of the Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. She had a Bachelor’s degree in Music and Christian Education. Upon graduation she taught school in Raleigh, NC. Later she was the bookkeeper at Kinston Shirt Factory and other businesses such as her father’s business in LaGrange, Rouse TV. She was also secretary for several churches in the area but the thing she loved was sitting at the piano at many churches and playing for choirs, weddings and quartets. She also loved playing the piano while sister sang. She loved getting together with her sister and other family members to do crafts and decorate for the seasons. She loved her family and helping them with their educational needs. She loved to read her Bible and a wide variety of other books. She passed her love of reading to her children.
Sherry is survived by her husband. Rev. John Robert Jones, her children, John Robert Jones Jr, Kari Ann Jones (Foster Whitney Davis), Justin Edward Jones. Also, her siblings, Rhonda Rouse Rouse (Lonnie Gus Rouse), James Franklin Rouse, Jr, Becky Thigpen (Royce), her nieces and nephews, Logan Rouse, Katie Thigpen Gleason, Royce Thigpen Jr, & Millie Thigpen Muston.
A Special thanks to all the doctors and staff at the Wound Clinic in Goldsboro. Also a special thanks to her Home Health Nurse and support team that came and took care of her for the last several years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Tara Lain officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
