The Rev. Dr. Jonathan Page, current Director for the Office of Connection & Innovation, will transition from his position effective November 1,2025 to become the Director of the Lewis Center for Church Leadership at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C.
During his tenure with the VAUMC conference office, Page has overseen the Annual Conference session as well as new initiatives including the Metrics and Measurements ad hoc team, tasked with assembling alpha and beta testing of different methodologies around the current vitality and effectiveness data collected from VAUMC churches.
In his new position, Page will offer strategic direction and innovative thought leadership for the work of the Lewis Center; manage and oversee the Lewis Fellows leadership development program, the Church Leadership Doctor of Ministry tracks, the Practice in Ministry and Mission field education program, and a number of ongoing research initiatives amongst other duties.
“I’m excited for this opportunity that will allow for continued partnership with the Virginia Annual Conference alongside an ability to expand some of our innovative work across the spectrum of the church,” Page said. “I’m grateful to President David McAllister-Wilson and the team at Wesley for extending this invitation and to Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson for her grace and vision in embracing this space.”
“While this is a loss for the Virginia Conference staff, it promises to be an immense blessing for the Virginia Conference as a whole. Jonathan is immensely gifted and his presence at the Lewis Center will only serve to strengthen the existing ties in our conference between the academy and the local church,” Rev. Doug Forrester, Assistant to the Bishop and Chief Operating Officer, said.
Please join the conference team in sharing thanks to Jonathan for his leadership, innovative spirit, and partnership and send him into his new position with all of our prayers and best wishes as he continues in ministry with us.
