Bookkeeper and Office Assistant at Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg, VA, (full-time & temporary position).

The primary role of this position is to assist the staff in their responsibilities, fill the role of financial secretary and act as the Office Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in finance and accounting for the office, including:
  • Using CDM+ software to:
    • Post invoices and write checks on a weekly basis
    • Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis and prepare payroll taxes
    • Prepare weekly cashflow report for Pastor and monthly financial report for Finance Committee
    • Manage monthly bank reconciliations
    • Generate weekly reports for giving and expenses
  • Assist in maintaining church calendar
  • Assist in coordinating requests for use of church facility
  • Check and respond to church email daily, and collect and distribute mail.
  • Type and print weekly bulletins.
  • Prepare and upload the weekly PowerPoint.
  • Order office and cleaning supplies and ensure all office equipment is maintained and in working order.
  • Receive phone calls and route callers to the appropriate party.
  • Greet and assist visitors and maintain polite and professional communication via phone, email and mail.
