The Highland Support Project Hosts Appalachian Revival Music Festival to Aid Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Richmond, VA – The Highland Support Project (HSP), a VAUMC advance initiative (#5007), proudly announces the Appalachia Revival Music Festival, set to take place on October 19th in The Alley, located behind AlterNatives Boutique at 3320 W. Cary Street, Richmond, VA, 23221. This event is designed to garner support for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) and celebrate the conference’s dedicated response to Hurricane Helene.

The festival will feature performances by Richmond’s beloved bands, including National Public Rodeo, River City Band, Cook County Bluegrass, and Madly Backwards. The musical festivities are scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; entry is free. Attendees are encouraged to contribute to the cause by bringing supplies from UMCOR disaster response buckets.

A Unique Intentional Space for Change

The Alley is a thoughtfully designed space that encourages transformative experiences, providing an environment beyond conventional market-driven and political scenes. It aspires to be where diverse cultures and perspectives intersect, promoting the exploration of new ideas and alternatives. Here, visitors are invited to engage with unique insights from various backgrounds, fostering understanding and growth beyond the usual narratives.

This initiative is part of Alternatives, a Highland Support Project social enterprise that seeks to establish a business model that values the marketplace as a sacred web of relationships.

In line with this vision, the festival is a testament to the power of creativity and collaboration in addressing societal needs. It emphasizes the possibility of cultivating a marketplace driven by sustainability and justice rather than mere competition and profit maximization.

Join Us in Making a Positive Impact

This festival is a heartfelt call to United Methodist Clergy, local community members, and charity supporters to unite in unity and compassion. It celebrates resilience and commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts while uplifting our community through music and collaboration.
