For the past two years, the young people of the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church have utilized the Living Your Strengths model during youth training events. We learned that:
1. Our young people need/want to understand who they are and how to use their unique qualities in service to the world around them.
2. Once young people understand and embrace their unique qualities (talents/strengths), a whole new world is opened up to them.
3. Not all of us understand or appreciate our own unique qualities (talents/strengths) enough to help our young people to claim theirs.
4. The Living Your Strengths or StrengthFinder vehicle is really helpful when facilitating conversations about growth, in relation to our own unique qualities (talents/strengths) and that of those around you.
*Tim Dayton and Alison Malloy, volunteers who work with young people in the VAUMC, have been trained by Gallup and certified as Faith Strengths Advisors.*
During this two-day training event (for youth directors, campus ministers, and others who work with young people in the church), Tim and Alison will:
1. Share about the principles behind Living Your Strengths and StrengthFinder resources
2. Walk the group through their own “Top 5” strengths lists
3. Talk about some ways to use these resources with your youth groups, young adults, church councils, or whole congregations!
4. Provide opportunities for fellowship, learning, and experience sharing with other folks from across the Conference

Housing is provided in the Blessings Lodge on a first come, first served basis. Once that space is full, other resources available at the camp will be utilized.
