Urgent need for Virginia Beach, Evergreen work teams
Contact Forrest White, Long-term Recovery Manager and UMVIM Coordinator, to schedule work teams for the continued work in the Virginia Conference’s disaster recovery in Virginia Beach and Evergreen. Open dates include: August 27-Sept. 2, Evergreen and Virginia Beach; Sept. 21-23, Virginia Beach; Oct. 2-4, Virginia Beach; Oct. 16-18, Virginia Beach; and Oct. 23-28, Evergreen and Virginia Beach. Bridgewater UMC raises money for “Walls of Giving” campaign
Bridgewater UMC raised $20,154 for disaster recovery using the “Walls of Giving” campaign. Forrest White, Long-term Recovery Manager and UMVIM Coordinator, thanked the church for the tremendous support. If your church is willing to partner with the disaster recovery staff in fundraising, White is available to answer questions or to come speak at your church. White shared that the team is continuing to seek funds to help survivors in Evergreen and Virginia Beach, but they’re also focused on building a reserve fund for future disasters.

Scholarships available for seminary students
The VAUMC Grants and Loans subcommittee of the Board of Ordained Ministry gave away $78,000 dollars this year to seminary students, provisional members completing their Clinical Pastoral Education and more. The next scholarship deadline for seminary students is October 1, 2017 and applications can be found at
