What is the Center for Congregational Excellence?

In June 2008, the Virginia Conference approved ALL THINGS NEW that stated, “Resourcing of leadership must become the primary focus of the conference as new and existing faith communities are empowered to witness to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.” As of January 1, 2012, the Virginia Conference continued aligning all ministry areas with this focus on leadership development by creating ministry centers for excellence.

The Center for Congregational Excellence focuses on starting new faith communities and renewing existing churches in light of the core values of excellence and fruitfulness. The goal of excellence is based on Philippians 4:8:

“Finally, beloved. Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just ,whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”
