The director of Music Ministries at FUMC shall be in charge of the total music program of the church, including children, youth, and adult programs. They shall work in accordance with the standards of the Worship Resourcing Team of the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church.

•Must have a vibrant faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
•Shall be accountable to the Pastor, and responsible to SPRC, in that order
•A part-time position to be expected to average 20 hrs per week carrying out the duties listed below, with the understanding that this will vary with the season
•Is responsible for being present at all worship services and music programs and for securing an appropriate substitute whenever absent from a scheduled event
•Must have the ability to meet, listen to, work with and accept persons of varied backgrounds and capabilities.
•Must be receptive to suggestions and flexible in working with FUMC staff

The Director of Music Ministries for FUMC is expected to reflect Christian Principles and to be guided by the following:
•Maintain an accepting, caring, and trusting attitude toward children, youth, and adults
•Be receptive to suggestions; be willing to listen to and share ideas of and with others
•Solicit program feedback for continuous improvement
•Be an enabler – the instrument for providing musical opportunities
•Be a song leader – lead the congregation in learning and singing music
•Be an innovator – look for new, fresh ideas for worship through music
•Strive to have church members see him/her as a resource person, not as a replacement for essential volunteers

•Work with the Pastor, the Music Committee, the Worship Committee and report to Church Council in areas where music ministries is involved
•Lead and coordinate all paid staff and volunteers who work in music ministries (organist, pianist, choral accompanist, children’s choral & bell choir directors, etc.)
•Serve as a member on the music and worship committees.
•Attend all staff meetings and meetings as requested by the Children’s program director or Youth Director
•Provide early childhood music education to Noah’s Ark Learning Center on a weekly basis as agreed upon with the Learning Center Director and approved by SPRC. This may include several performances of the pre-school at Sunday Worship Services
•Be responsible and accountable for all music at all church worship services and special congregational and community worship services. Conform to the liturgical year. Provide music for special emphasis as required by the Pastor.
•Arrange for musical experiences of learning for our children, youth, and adults. These experiences may include, but are not limited to, hand bell choirs, youth choirs, instrumental groups, folk groups, praise groups, Sunday School class singing, and Vacation Bible School
•Select the music for all services and provide a master schedule for all interested parties (Pastor, choirs, sound engineers, Worship Committee, etc.)
•Support the Children and Youth Pastors to present special programs

SALARY: $25,000 per year
