Director of Music

Central UMC seeks a Director of Music (part-time). The Director of Music at Central United Methodist Church in Arlington Virginia works closely with the minister and worship planning team to plan the worship calendar. Chooses music that ties into the sermon/worship themes. Plays music for worship service on piano. Facilitates all communication with the Choir. Leads all choir rehearsals and accompanies the choir on anthems. Arranges for guest musicians for special events (i.e. Cantatas, Ash Wednesday, Christmas Eve), as well as substitute musicians when taking leave. Manages the piano maintenance, to include tuning and keeping the damp chasers watered on a regular basis. Develops and maintains the church music library. Ensures that music is logged into OneLicense for legal streaming. Coordinate volunteers using the planning center online. Any other tasks as assigned by the senior pastor.
