Director of Communications Position Description

Position: Director of Communication
Hours: 20 hours per week
Supervision: Reports directly to the Executive Director who will provide annual evaluation of performance.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Director will set the direction as well as lead the strategic implementation of all internal and external communications to consistently articulate, enable and fulfill Arcola Church’s mission and vision. This individual will be a creative, innovative, strategic thinker and a results-driven team leader and administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
Website
– Maintain and update Arcola Church’s website, including evaluating and adjusting style, search engine Optimization (SEO), media, language, and seeking new technology, along with collaboratively creating and posting content.
Promotions
– Organize, prioritize, and communicate all church-wide and ministry-specific promotional items
– Create communication strategies to market, inform, and promote worship series, events, capital campaigns, and ministries
– Oversee all written promotional materials.
Social Media
– Manage ongoing social media messaging and communication strategies, in coordination with Creative Team
– Creatively build followings on various social media outlets including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Design and Brand Management
– Lead art and promotional design efforts with a high standard of creativity, excellence and effectiveness
– Supervise Graphic Designer and volunteer artists to develop graphic designs
– Monitor the look, vibe and feel of all promotional materials representing Arcola Church
– Oversee the use of logos and images that represent Arcola Church
– Maintain the visual appearance of the Worship Center (signage, art, etc.)
Worship
– Work with the pastors to develop worship-specific promotions and imagery
– Develop creative ways to communicate desired messages
– Coordinate Sunday morning ministry promotion tables between worship services
Volunteer Teams
– Develop volunteer teams as deemed necessary to accomplish communication goals
– Enlist, equip and encourage qualified volunteers such as artists, designers, photographers and writers
Supervisory Responsibilities
– Oversees Graphic Designer, Chair of Communications and volunteer teams
– Attend and participate in staff, director and council meetings, and other required events

Salary: Benefits: None
2024 – $27.30/hour
2025 – $28.12/hour
