Harambee 2025

June 25 - June 29

But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. Jeremiah 20:9 (NIV)

Harambee 2025

Rev. Sapada Thomas, pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS, and Director of the Wesley Foundation at Jackson State University, deeply inspires and empowers others through his ministry.

Born in Ripley, MS, Rev. Thomas sensed God’s higher calling on his life at a young age. His faith deepened as he grew in the Word of God and experienced God profoundly. This Divine calling led him to return to the United Methodist Church in 2001, where he rejoined Moses Chapel U.M. Church. Shortly after, he was appointed pastor of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in Corinth, MS.

Rev. Thomas earned an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from Northeast Mississippi Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Rust College. He continued his preparation for ministry by earning a Master of Divinity degree from Memphis Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry at United Theological Seminary.

In June 2023, Rev. Thomas was ordained as a Full Elder in the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church. Known for his love of teaching, preaching, and worship, he leads with dedication, helping others grow in their faith. His favorite scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, reflects his belief in God’s plans for hope and a prosperous future: “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Rev. Thomas continues to touch lives both in the church and on campus, inspiring others to walk boldly in their faith journey.
