Prayer Practices
VAUMC 2025
EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE
This is a process of becoming aware of the condition of our spiritual hearts. In this practice we pay attention to both the good and the bad. It has two-fold purpose: to see where God’s grace has been present in our day and to see where we have or have not responded to that grace. Ask yourself: What happened during my day? What feelings did I experience? How did I react? What motivated my response? Ultimate question: Was it God’s love that moved me?
Prayer: Compassionate God, thank you for your loving presence in my life. Help me to be motivated by your gracious and abundant love. Amen.
