Sunday Advocate is a weekly, single-page digest of United Methodist information, news, and resources distributed electronically across the Virginia Conference and suitable for reproduction as a Sunday bulletin insert.

The Sunday Advocate is saved in a pdf format. This requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to view. If you have problems opening the Sunday Advocate, please visit to download your free copy of Adobe Reader.

A product of Virginia United Methodist Communications and a sister publication to the Virginia United Methodist Advocate newsmagazine, this electronic publication is sent FREE no later than each Wednesday via e-mail to lay and clergy subscribers or can be downloaded from the conference Web site.

Churches can reprint the camera-ready inserts as provided or reformat the material for other uses. Many churches have found creative ways to distribute the Sunday Advocate throughout their congregations, such as posting it on bulletin boards, delivering to shut-ins, or providing copies in the church narthex or commons area. Anyone, however, can receive the electronic publication directly, so churches might want to encourage their members to subscribe.

Church leaders, in particular, would benefit from the timely information provided by the electronic Sunday Advocate. Consider encouraging your leaders to subscribe, especially your…

  • Lay Leader
  • Church Council chairperson
  • United Methodist Men president
  • United Methodist Women president
  • United Methodist Youth president
  • Lay Speakers
  • Committee chairpersons
  • Church staff and/or volunteers
