Members Biographies and Pictures

 

The Rev. Robert C. Blinn is secretary of the Virginia Annual Conference and is secretary (without vote) of the Common Table. He is pastor of Trinity UMC in Disputanta. He is a graduate of Emory & Henry College and Vanderbilt Divinity School. He has pastored churches in Tennessee, Kentucky and in Floyd, Montgomery, Frederick and Henry Counties in Virginia. He and his wife, the Rev. Mary Beth Blinn, have two grown children.

The Rev. Marc Brown is Director of Connectional Ministries for the Virginia Annual Conference and chairperson of the Common Table. He is a native of Virginia, and an elder in the Virginia Conference with a bachelor’s degree from Radford University and a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. His wife, Beverly, is an elementary school teacher in the Henrico County school system. They have two children, Ginny (married to Bryan) and Adam, and two grandchildren, Abby and Brady.

Bishop Young Jin Cho was elected a bishop and consecrated at the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference held July 18-20, 2012, in Lake Junaluska, N.C. He is the first Korean-American elected to the episcopacy in the Southeastern Jurisdiction. He was ordained in the East Annual Conference of the Korean Methodist Church in 1977 and transferred to the Virginia Conference in 1983. He was senior pastor of Korean United Methodist Church of Greater Washington (KUMCGW) in McLean, for 22 years before being appointed superintendent of the Arlington District in 2005. Bishopo Cho has served the church and the community in various capacities, including president of the Korean Wesley Foundation, president of Partner’s Church Association for the renewal of the Korean United Methodist Church, Board of Ordained Ministry, Board of Discipleship and Commission on Ethnic Minority Local Church Concerns. He was elected delegate to the 2008 and 2012 General Conferences. Bsihop Cho received the Denman Evangelism Award in 1991. He was also the U.S. chair of an organization that assists refugees from North Korea. He has always emphasized that Christ should be the Lord in our mission and ministries, and prayer should go first. Bishop Cho and his wife, Kiok, a deacon in full connection, have two daughters, Grace and Sophia, and one son, Chris.

The Rev. Lydia E. Rodríguez Colón had been serving the Virginia Conference since 2006.  She is serving as the Associate Pastor of the Arlington United Methodist Church. She is also the Chair of the Board of GRACE Ministries of the United Methodist Church.  She had been an Elder of the Methodist Church for 12 years and a pastor for 16 years.  She was Bishop Assistant for the former Bishop of the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico, Juan A. Vera Méndez , from 2001-2004. Reverend Lydia was also a Regional Superintendent of the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico from 1999-2002.  Between the years 2004-2006, Lydia was the Coordinator of the Lay Speaking Trainings of the Methodist Church of Puerto Rico.  Before being a pastor, she was a missionary in Central America and South America.  Pastor Lydia has a Masters Degree in Theology of the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico. Pastor Lydia had been married to her husband Angel M. Martínez since 2002 and they share their home with their cat Querube, who was rescued from the streets 13 years ago, in Pastor’s Lydia first appointment.

Leila DentonLeila West Denton is a lay representative on the behalf of the children on the Common Table. I have served as Director of Children’s Ministries and Assistant to Education at Trinity UMC in Richmond since February 1993. I have a Masters in Christian Education from Union Theological Seminary and PSCE (2002) and am a Certified Christian Educator. I have served on a variety of Richmond District and Virginia Conference committees. I have represented the Richmond District at Annual Conferences 1999 – 2006, and 2008 - 2011. I am a life-long member of Trinity UMC, Richmond.

Mr. Jim Green is serving as president of the Virginia Conference United Methodist Men. He is the immediate Past Winchester District President. Jim lives in Winchester. He has three grown children, Timothy and wife Lynda lives in Stephens City, VA; Daniel makes his home in the DC area; and Rachel, an RN, resides with her son and Jim’s grandson, Christian, 15, in Inwood, WV. Jim, Rachel and Christian are members of Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester, VA. Jim’s email address is jimgreen14@hotmail.com.

Mr. Warren R. Harper is serving as Conference Lay Leader and President of the Board of Laity. Most recently he has served as District Lay Leader of the York River District. He is the former Conference Lay Leader and Conference Director of Lay Speaking of the Northern New Jersey Annual Conference. He is a member of Wellspring UMC in Williamsburg. He is married to Sandy and they have one adult son and two granddaughters.

Jim Hudson is the lay representative for equipping the local church on the Common Table.  He is a member of Burke UMC where he has led adult studies in the Disciple Bible series, Christian Believer, and Companions in Christ.  Jim is an attorney with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Washington, D.C.  He was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, into an Air Force family and was raised primarily in the southeast.  He received his B.A. from Carson-Newman College and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee School of Law.  Jim and his wife, Wendy, have two sons, Clay and Reid.
Mrs. Pat Inge, who lives in Blackstone, is a retired Director of Christian Education at Crenshaw United Methodist Church and a retired teacher in the Nottoway County School System. She received a master’s degree in Christian Education from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University and a master’s degree in Elementary Supervision from Longwood University. She and her husband, Tommy, have been married for 60 years and have three children and six grandchildren.
Anita Gordon Jackson is presently a lay member of the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry as well as the Staunton District Board of Ordained Ministry. She is a member of Central UMC where she is the Lay Leader and a Sunday school teacher. She also serves as the chairperson of the District’s Superintendency Committee. She was born and grew up in Richmond, VA and received a B.A. from Howard University and an M.P.A. from James Madison University. She and her husband, Norman, have four sons, one daughter and eight grandchildren. They also share their home with the grand dog, “Smokie,” who could not move to France with the rightful owner. Anita’s recent retirement has given her time to explore her hobbies which include reading, traveling and gardening.

Rev. Gary C. Miller is a native of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and the pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church. He is married to Tampa R. Miller and they are the proud parents of one daughter, Kamesha.

 

 

The Rev. Brandon Robbins is the pastor of Courtland UMC, James River District, and is the clergy representative of youth on the Common Table. He received a Bachelor of Arts from James Madison University and a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School. He is recently married to his amazing wife, LeeAnn Robbins, who is a pediatric speech-language therapist in Richmond, VA.
The Rev. Won Un is pastor of Mount Moriah UMC, Charlottesville District, and is the clergy representative of Communications and Conferencing for the Common Table. Won is Korean-American, graduated from Methodist College, Duke Divinity School (MDiv), and Princeton Theological Seminary(ThM). He served churches on the Harrisonburg, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Richmond, and Ashland districts. He served six years as chair of Ethnic Local Church Concerns. In addition, Won is currently on the Duke Divinity School National Alumni Association and has held positions on the Virginia Council of Churches, Communications Board, and Conference/District Board of Ordained Ministry. An avid bicyclist (Holy Rollers) and tennis player, Won is also a devoted husband to Diana and father to Lili and John.
Kathleen Overby WebsterKathleen Overby Webster is a native Virginian; my home church is Fredericksburg UMC; I am a graduate of Stafford County High School, the College of William and Mary, and Duke Divinity School. I have served in a variety of settings (solo pastor of the four churches of the Greensville Charge in Emporia, the solo pastor of Forest Grove UMC in Ashland, the solo pastor of McGaheysville UMC in the Harrisonburg District, as Superintendent of the Staunton District, and now as senior pastor of Asbury UMC in Harrisonburg). I have served on the Board of Ordained Ministry, the Committee on the Episcopacy, and CFA. My husband Harold Webster Jr., a retired elder in the conference, and I recently celebrated our 25th anniversary. I am mother to Joel, 22, a student at VA Tech; stepmother to Cherise and Harold III, and grandma to Michael, 16, Tyler, 13, and Liam, 5.
