Conference Committee on Mission Personnel
The Conference Committee on Mission Personnel (CCMP) is a committee of local clergy and laity within the Virginia Annual Conference that is committed to mission service and whose members guide and mentor interested persons through the application and discernment process for mission service and assist them in identifying, within the Annual Conference, congregations for missionary financial support.
There are four Church and Community Workers now assigned within the Virginia Conference: Rebecca Parsons to the Roanoke Community Outreach Program, Lisa Nichols to Henry Fork Center in Rocky Mount, Pat Watkins to Caretakers of God's Creation: A Community of United Methodists and Don Edwards to Shalom Zone: Grace Ministries Project in Roanoke, Virginia.
Each local congregation can help guide, encourage and support persons to whom God has given the abilities and passion to make disciples of Jesus Christ and to serve others. Each local church pastor can be instrumental in leading persons within the local congregation to acknowledge the call of God upon their lives and to guide them through the appropriate channels.
There is a specific process by which the Mission Personnel Unit of the General Board of Global Ministries receives applications for persons interested in full-time missionary service. Applicants should request the Personnel Information Form (PIF–Application for Missionary Service) and other application materials from the Virginia Conference Committee on Mission Personnel (CCMP). The CCMP meets twice a year, spring and fall, to interview applicants. Future meeting dates are Sept 15, 2011, April 12, 2012 and Sept 13, 2012.
The contact for missionary application information is Rev. Joanne Maughlin, Virginia CCMP Chair: email@example.com or 703-536-4153.
