Clergy, laity gather to pray with Dr. Young Jin Cho, episcopal candidate
About 50 participants gathered at the United Methodist Center in Glen Allen on Saturday, June 9, for a time of prayer with the Rev. Dr. Young Jin Cho, Virginia Conference 2012 episcopal nominee.
The group prayed for Dr. Cho, Arlington District superintendent, for the episcopal election process, for The United Methodist Church, for God’s will to be done as all of the candidates do their best for their Lord and for each Virginia delegate to the jurisdictional conference by name.
Each participant also committed to pray for some of the jurisdictional conference delegates from other annual conferences by name, writing each a note to let them know we are praying for them in the days ahead.
If you did not participate on June 9 but would like to be a part of this prayer ministry, send e-mail to the Rev. Kristin Holbrook at rev.kristinholbrook@gmail.com. You will be given a name or a few names of persons to pray for in the days leading up to conference.
The Southeastern Jurisdiction will meet July 18-20 at Lake Junaluska, N.C., to elect five new bishops. There are currently 14 women and men nominated as episcopal candidates, including Dr. Cho.
