July 3 Litany of Celebration for United Methodist Churches The Cabinet has been working on ways to celebrate and recognize the formation of the four new districts and also those churches that are moving to different districts. Kits for Conference The 2011 Virginia Conference kit collection is being conducted to replenish the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) supply. UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot reports there is a need for all types of kits. Local churches are encouraged to collect items for any of the most requested UMCOR kits and bring them to Annual Conference for delivery. The list and instructions are available by clicking here (pdf). UMCOR has issued a special call for more cleaning buckets (formerly known as flood buckets). Packet Materials In an effort to be good stewards of the environment and financial resources of the conference, the Annual Conference packet again will be in a virtual format. Electronic copies of materials previously submitted in hard copy for the tote bag may be e-mailed to Bev Myers in the office of Connectional Ministries by May 6 for approval by the director of Connectional Ministries. The Virtual Promo Packet will be available on this Web site at www.vaumc.org/ac2011 beginning June 1.
Per Diem Voucher for Annual Conference By conference action, retirees, persons receiving their first appointment, and eligible others listed on pg 104 of the Book of Reports are authorized to receive reimbursement for expenses to attend Annual Conference, not to exceed $100 per day and is subject to limitations of conference approved rates. Vouchers may be obtained from the Wellness Ministries table at Annual Conference or is available by clicking here (pdf). The Conference Treasurer’s office is encouraging all reimbursements to be made by direct deposit. Instructions are attached to the voucher to make provisions for direct deposit. Vouchers will not be accepted after July 31.
