Carolina Cross Connection
CCC is an interdenominational summer outreach ministry for youth and adults, endorsed by the Western North Carolina UM Conference. Youth and adults from Christian churches gather together in one of the camp locations, are formed into work teams, and are sent to perform home repair and maintenance chores for disabled, elderly, and needy families in 26 western North Carolina counties. Evening times are spent back in camp sharing the events of the day, playing, sharing fellowship, and worshiping. Cost per person is $290 and covers room, board, preparation materials, a portion of the staff salary and more. Youth must be at least 13 years old to attend.

Hinton Rural Life Center, Hayesville, NC
Hinton Rural Life Center has been a mission agency of the United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Hinton creates opportunities for workteams from all over the country to experience our rich mountain culture, to serve with others in repairing or building homes with local families, and to grow in their understanding of faith in action. Typical work includes repairing porches, painting homes, fixing leaky roofs, building handicap ramps, replacing rotten floors, and other similar home repairs. Building relationships with our families and developing Christian community are top priorities for our workteams. It is our belief that mission happens when people of all ages discover, develop, and utilize their God-given gifts within the context of service for others. There is no age limit. The cost for the summer program is $375-390 per person. Year round opportunities are always available.
