Welcome to the Center for Inclusivity and Lay Leadership Excellence. My ministry with the Virginia Conference Center began Sept. 2, 2014. I am truly grateful for this opportunity to respond to God’s new call in my life. The Book of Discipline affirms “all persons as equally valuable in the sight of God” and “the call to ministry of all the baptized.” While continually seeking to discern the Holy Spirit’s guidance, I work as a team with Cindy Ingroff who began her ministry with the Virginia Conference Center in 1993.
A Virginia native and life-long United Methodist, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from Duke University, an Educational Specialist degree in Counseling Psychology from James Madison University, and a Master of Theological Studies degree from Wesley Theological Seminary with a major in Sociology of Religion and concentration in Women & Religion.
I served as a US-2 mission worker with the Wesley Foundation of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Professional Counselor and Wesley Foundation campus minister at Winston-Salem State University; Assistant Director of The Career Center at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (R-MWC); Director of Multicultural Education at R-MWC; and Adjunct Psychology Instructor for Central Virginia Community College.
My husband, Peter, has enjoyed a long-term career in the paper mill industry. We have one son, Joel.
