Anna Workman, Director of Church Development

E-mail Anna Gail Workman

Welcome to the Office of Church Development!  The ministry of this office involves working with congregations to "be all that they can be," working with District teams to plant new congregations, and resourcing local congregations in the building process.   The Local Church section of The Book of Discipline begins with the statement “the mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ.  Local churches provide the most significant arena through which disciple-making occurs.”  Evangelism, Ethnic Local Church Concerns, Grants/Loans, building resources, demographic training, leadership development… all that we do in this office focuses on empowering local churches to “make disciples of Jesus Christ."  I work as a team with this office’s administrative assistant, Pat Hickman.

I was born in North Carolina, the middle child of three children. I am a consecrated Diaconal Minister with certification in the area of Christian Education.  I attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC and received my degree from Elon University in Elon, NC.  I served congregations in the North Carolina Conference as a Minister of Education for more than 20 years and was elected in 1999 as an Assistant General Secretary of the General Board of Global Ministries in the area of Evangelization and Church Growth.  I have been serving in my current position since November, 2002.

My husband, George, is a construction engineer and project manager.  We have two grown daughters, Anna Liese and Emily.  We are NASCAR fans and in our “off” times we love to go RVing, much to the chagrin of the only daughter left at home (Simba, a chow).
